The Sacred Journey Xcaret is an ancestral reenactment honoring the ancient Mayan pilgrimage to Cozumel in tribute to the goddess Ixchel. In this spectacular cultural experience, dozens of hand-carved ceiba wood canoes cross the sea, guided only by the strength and spirit of their rowers.
“Canoes of Ceiba and Salt” symbolizes the deep connection between sacred land and the Caribbean Sea, in a ceremony filled with history, energy, and tradition. The event brings together participants and spectators in an atmosphere that blends living culture, Mayan identity, and the stunning landscapes of the Riviera Maya.
