Take a Dip in Dos Ojos

April 11, 2016

After a few days under the hot sun of the Riviera Maya, you may be looking for a bit of a break. Instead of hiding yourself indoors, we suggest a better solution: take a refreshing dip in the beautifully clear waters of a cenote. Luckily, there are plenty in the area, though one of our favorites is Cenote Dos Ojos. Located a short drive away from our Playa del Carmen resort, this particular site is actually two neighboring cenotes, connected by an underground cave system. Those who are certified open-water divers should not miss this beautiful site, as it contains the deepest cave in Quintana Roo and some of the most unique and awe-inspiring formations of stalagmites and stalactites. If you aren’t an experienced diver, don’t fear! There is plenty to observe with snorkeling equipment. The crystal clear waters are, on average, a cool 77 degrees year-round which makes this excursion particularly refreshing.
